How do I export individual art boards as jpegs in 2022

I'm quite annoyed with the update because I seem to be no longer able to save individual art boards as jpegs. When I go to export them, even when I change the setting to jpeg, the only option available when my computer files are opened in the last step is png. I was exporting this exact file one artboard at a time just fine before the update.

please note: any solution that saves all my art boards at once but as seperate files won't work. I use this for storyboards, so I use the export option to have very presice control.

Ok so I've solved my own problem! Here's the solution:

go to edit, preferences, export, and check "use legacy export as". After that you should be able to select jpeg in the export pop up box, and it'll export the individual boards you have selected as such

This is great, but why is this not a default?  What is the problem with exporting as jpegs?
