How do I insert a cent symbol into a document. I trued to use the Character viewer, but that of course was on help at all.

Start using the Type tool and hold down the Alt/Option key and type 0162.

Trevor, it works only on a PC. So Mac users can forget the Option+number shortcut...

Start »  All Programs » Accessories » System Tools » Character Map copy and paste the required symbol.
