How do I make shading like this image?

I've been going crazy trying to find out how to add shading. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much

3 layers:

An image layer
A shape layer drawn with the pen tool and filled with black but then with opacity turned down to around 50% in the layers panel
A text layer
