How do I make the "gold" part black and glossy?

Polished gold is highly reflective, and acts somewhat like a mirror.  So the lower part of the bumper might reflect the dark floor, and the upper the brighter sky or room interior.

This layer style made the golder bumper dark.  I also gave it a golder colour overlay.  A layer mask restricted the effect to the lower part of the bumper.
