How do I replicate this style?

I am working on a project for my friend... who wants me to outline an object in the style the outline is here. I've never done this type of thing in Photoshop and don't entirely know where to start. Any help, tips, or pointers would be greatly appreciated!! All my prior photoshop experience has more to do with photo manipulation.

Thank you!

I'm also trying to figure out how to do the figure part... is that a matter of creating shapes?

You would need to draw round it with the Pen tool, and make it into a Shape layer.

Select the workpath and go Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color

This will produce a vector shape layer that can be infinitely scaled with no loss of colour.

You are in luck as we discovered a new facility recently that allows us to share workpaths.

Click on the image below to expand it, and right click and save to JPG.

Open in Photoshop, and you will see the workpath in the Paths panel.

Use the steps above to make it a Shape layer, and the Bevel & Emboss steps from the previous post to give it a chrome effect

Note this is the very first time I have tested the shared path feature, so I'll test it after posting

    Well that didn't work!

Click to expand the image and right click and copy

    Paste into a Photoshop document

Use the magic wand set to 5 with Contiguous turned off, and select the white background

Invert the selection (Ctrl Alt I) and click on the Make path from Selection icon at the bottom of the Paths panel.  It is not the nice path I made as it has way too many points, but I was over confident and deleted the document without saving, so short of making it again, I hope this is OK

Make the text with a mid grey

And use Bevel & Emboss layer style using one of the W shaped Gloss Contours

Note the low value I have used for the Bevel & Emboss size.  This is because of the thin strokes of the serif font I have used.  A thicker font would allow  you to use higher values.
