Hi @Anthony M.286032648xud, unless I'm not understanding your question right (it happens, lol) you make your selection on the image and then choose Layer › New Adjustment Layer › Invert from the top menu bar. Here's a quick example where I selected the door and inverted the selection. Hope that's helpful!

Are you working with multple layers or a flattened image?

To add what J E L wrote, if you want just the colors inverted, and not the luminosity, change the invert adjustment layer's blend mode to color.
