How do you close the expansion window in the character panel?

This is a terrible feature to me. Personally, I prefer seeing the expansion list within the panel. This separate panel covers art immediately and I cannot seem to move its location. If I could reposition it, it would probably not be as terrrible but it's dead center. 

Anyone know a fix for this? TIA!
