Question

How do you know what a past brush size was?

Sometimes when I'm using Photoshop, I'll paint something with a certain brush size, and then I do some other stuff (altering the brush size of course (or maybe not!)), and then want to draw again at the same brush size but forgot what size the stroke was!

Is there a way to see this without using the history panel? I don't want to destroy the 'other stuff' (see above) but I forgot what size this line is.

Any help?

As far as I know, there isn't a way to do that unless you use the note tool or perhaps name the layer with the size of the brush tool. Even if you go back in the history panel, it will take you back to that history state, but not re-activiate the brush tool as it was. If you are making differnt brush sizes everytime, you could try to make your own brushes, but not sure that will actually help tell you what it was at a certain point in time.

Thanks for correcting me about the history panel. I guess it would be nice to go to a point in your workflow history and see exatly what tool was used and what the tool's settings were. I guess the history panel could be revamped to allow you to see such information.

Or is that all too much?

I suppose you could request it as a feature, but considering a lot of people use a wacom/pressure sensitive that change the size of a brush as you paint, I am not sure if that would even be feasible.
