Question

How is it possible to make a program as bad as Photoshop?

What sort of people do you have to hire to create a program that is so bad it literally won't even open most of the time? It's unbelievable. This is an expensive program that I'm using a legit, paid version of, and yet it simply refuses to open. I look it up online, and countless people have had this exact same experience even within a year. It's a persistent problem that countless people have, yet there seems to be no fix from Adobe; it's just a million "this might work" fixes from users.

So my question is, is Adobe doing something special to create a program this bad? If--huge if--I ever manage to get this piece of trash open, I have to drag files into the top bar to open them as a workaround because just double-clicking a PSD file is too much work this thing. But even then, it'll eventually crash. And once it does, that's it! Goodbye, work day. I now have to spend the rest of my time on the clock diagnosing why the hell this piece of trash program just will not open no matter what I do: restarting, reinstalling, killing the process, etc. It just does not open. I've never met a program like this.

Everyone involved in its creation should be embarrassed. This is truly shocking. I hate this company more than any other in the world and will never, ever use anything Adobe ever again if I can possibly avoid it

Who works on PS is well documented, it's on the start up splash screen.    It's also the world leader in image editing
What version of the program are you using? ?

" This is an expensive program that I'm using a legit, paid version of,"- that makes me think is an old version- is that correct? "  PS has been  suscription based since 2013.

No, it's the newest version; I know for sure because I updated just in case through Creative Cloud. I just phrased it that way because I know it is expensive; in reality, I have a license from my company so thankfully I'm not directly paying for this trash.

I know. That's why it's truly shocking and I never expected it to take the crown of the worst program I've literally ever used in my entire life. Everyone who appears in that image should be embarrassed

@adventurous_hearted3669

Crashing is almost always a GPU problem (old/underpowered/misconfigured).

If you post the full Help > System Info we can say more about that.

If a PSD doesn't open by double-clicking, your file associations are broken. You fix this in Windows settings. Worst case, reinstalling Photoshop should reinstate the proper file associations.
