Question

How many frames can the video timeline handle?

I've been trying to use photoshop for animation, but I'm starting to wonder if it's even a good alternative. Would it be able to handle sketch frames, lineart frames and colour frames all at once? I'm asking this because I don't want photoshop to suddenly crash while I'm animating something. Frames = layers

Hi

Photoshop has a layer limit of 8000 layers.

Layers can appear in more than one frame so frames does not have to be equal to layers.

You may hit a frame limit on exporting dpending what format you choose as the export.

How would I make a frame on it's own with layers in it? I'm using the video timeline format, and it shows frames as layers.

Use the frame animation timeline. You can turn on which layers are visible in which frame with the eye symbol in the layers panel.
