Question

How to align groups with a layer

Is there any way to align a group of layers with a single layer? I have a layer with some reference UVs, but none of my groups and their layers match up with it. Have these got to be realigned manually one-by-one, or is there a tool that can help with this in one go?

Thanks

Please post an example, will save time and avoid incorrect guessing on what you have and are looking to do. You will get better responses, as I for one often only  answer posts with complete and easy to follow descriptions. Not sure what you mean by UVs, uncoated varnish, ultraviolet light??

The example below will horizontally align the group of stars, against the product layer that does not move because of the mask.

Or if you select like the stars and not the group

you can get a result like this using horizontal center

UV meshes from 3D modelling, such as Blender. This screenshot shows what I mean... The Diffuse folder/group contains many individual layers and they're not aligned with the UV layer, which they need to match up to. The folder could be merged into a layer and then moved, but some layers/effects are either snapped to other layers and would need to be adjusted separately.

Select  the Layers Group called diffuse, and cursor key nudge to get in place the majority of them. Use Shift cursor key to move  10xd distance, then release shift to get 1 pixel distance final in position.

If  more work is needed as you say some layers are off, I would then temporarily move the UVs layer below, then use

to help select  layers and use cursor keys agains to nudge those into place .

Uncheck Auto select when done, aw that can be annoying on future projects.

I don't think it's possible to align layers or groups to a single layer without affecting that single layer. If all the other layers are off by the same amount, you can either select them all and nudge them into place. A script could be written to align layers to a specific layer, but that would take a bit of effort.

Layers can be aligned to a selection  so  you can select a pixel Target all the layer you want to align to  it then use align layers to selection 9 alignments are possible.  Two align steps are need a vertical and horizontal.  Top, center, bottom ...... Left, center, right  For example Top Left corner.
