How to align multiple layers

I'm trying to align multiple layers both horizontally and vertically

specifically I'm trying to center it across the canvas

Please view the following video for the specifics of the issue that I'm having

My suggestion was if you wanted the layers distributed evenly between the top and bottom edges, and you would have to put the edges of the shape layers outside the canvas, touching the edges.

If you just want them centered with the existing space between them, use Mohammad's method; however, you need to center them first horizontally, as you first did, THEN group them and center them vertically. You can also just sele t the two layers in the group, and not the group layer itself, along with the bg, to center horizontally.

The first question: you must have at least three layers selected to activate Distribute or second group of options.

You can center either layer or layer group but you can not instruct Photoshop to center and fix offset because it is software which does not see as we, humans do. Position both layers as you want them to appear one above another then group and center group or.... center both layers then nudge layer with text up. I think your main problem is in expectations from software.

If you are happy with the distance between the layers, do as Mohammad mentioned. If you want to space the layers equally within the height of the canvas Create two shape layers and place one off the top of the canvas and the other one off the bottom. Select all the layers and use distribute. In my sample I put the shapes inside the canvas so that you can see them, but they should be placed on the outer edge.
