Question

how to batch find+re-centre subject on large volume of images

Hi,

I am batch processing a very large number of sequential images. I will need to select and center on the subjet within the sequence and the subject sometimes shifts around the frame. I then want to crop left and right to the same size via canvas with the subject in the centre. I can automate selection of subject via object finder but then don't know how to re-centre/crop the frame on/to subject so that I can batch-save cropped sequence. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am now looking at using this script mentioned in this threat to save after pasting into new document... unless anyone else has a better idea?

After selection (select subject or whatever), use Image > Crop. You can then you can use Image > Canvas Size to extend the canvas size larger for consistency.

Or just the use Canvas Size command without the crop command (either once from centre, or twice with different fixed left and right anchor points and values).

Thanks Stephen, the issue is that the size of the selected subject changes unfortunatly, depending on other stuff in shot, so when I use crop the file size is always slightly different which is not desirable. Other possibility is to paste into new document which would have a standard size but then I am not sure how to sequentially output from a new document on 400+ images?
