Question

how to batch resize, crop, add clipping mask, export as PNG with transparent background

Hi everyone

My posts title says it all. Looking for a way to automate that process.  More detail below.

  1. New canvas / artboard with transparent background at 260x260
  2. Import photo
  3. Resize photo to 260x260 (canvas / artboard bounds)
  4. Add circle at 260x260 (canvas / artboard bounds)
  5. Crop photo to circle clipping mask
  6. Add layer style stroke to clipping mask (outside, 2px, gradient preset)
  7. Export to PNG with transparent background

I tried building an action which might ultimately be best as a droplet I assume, but it doesn't seem to be able to handle all of the steps. Please let me know if anyone else has or knows of an existing action might be able to be tweaked to handle what I'm looking for above. Or any other solutions to accomplish this are welcome.

We constantly have to resize and crop a TON of headshots and it's a rough manual process that we're looking to automate as soon as possible.  Thanks all!

Maybe Resize all of the photos first in their own action, then do the rest in a new action. Sometimes it just takes more than one to get the job done.

It sounds doable…which steps aren’t working out?

Are the photos already square?
