how to copy one layer over to another file and keep it aligned?

Hi

I am ued to copying layers to other open PSD files (drag and drop), but how can you do it so the layer you are dragging over stays aligned exactly in the other PSD file.
At the moment i drag it over then manually have to align it so it sits exactly onto of the one ive dragged it onto.

Maybe theres another way instead of dragging and dropping?
Thanks

sorry found a different way, Edit...Copy, then in other document, Edit... paste. So easy.

You can use the shift key modifier when dragging to "pin register" them together if they are the same pixel dimensions (middle centre aligned).

You can also use the Layer > Duplicate command to dupe selected layer/s or groups between documents.
