How to draw gradient in linear gamma?

In Photoshop, how can I draw a gradient in linear gamma?  Meaning that I want to output a TIFF and view it in video software (Resolve, Premiere, etc.) with a waveform monitor and see a linear ramp from black to white.  When I try this with the gradient tool, I get an S curve on the waveform monitor.  I have tried creating a custom RGB profile with gamma 1.0 before drawing the gradient, but that doesn't make a difference.

Hi

I thought this would be an easy one except that Photoshop's gradient tool always seems to produce a slight S-Curve.

You indicate that you have access to Premiere Pro. If so, you can use Effects >Generate>Ramp to generate a linear ramp then Export >Media to render a single frame to a TIFF file which will give you the TIFF file you need.

The example below generated a square file but you can make it any shape you need.
