Despite being out for a while, Artboards is still not officially supported by the SDK. Basically Artboard is just a group that comes with "UI-candy", i.e. backgrounds, visual masks and automatic canvas extension. You need code for detecting if a doc is an artboard or not and what is the current artboard rect and you can find it from Photoshop 2015 artboards in scripting. The thing you need to consider is that artboards are still just one psd canvas that get's automatically extended as you add artboards. All coordinates are with respect to the whole canvas and can change when it extends. Easiest thing is probably duplicating the artboard content to separate doc and save from there. Not sure what you meant with layer comps part.

This does not really solve the layer comps issue but if your goal is to just export each individual artboard as a single png, jpg, or whatever just use File > Export As... Export layers, artboards, and more

Someone wrote a script for exporting all layer comps in all artboards: https://github.com/antoniocosta/photoshopscripts/blob/master/Layer%20Comps%20To%20Artboard %20Files....

Drop it into your PS scripts folder and give it a try. It should export all artboards for each layer comp.
