How to isolate handwriting from a smudged document

Hello! I have a damaged, smudged recipe. I would really like to isolate the handwriting off of it. I know it's probably impossible to isolate all of the handwriting because it is so damaged, but does anyone have any advice as to how to go about it? Thank you for your time.

There's not much pixel data to work with.

If it helps, this is what I think it says. 

???? Pecans(?)  Crushed ?????  pineapple(?)
[well drained]  Cover with large container of Cool Whip.
Sprinkle with 1 cup chopped nuts and 1/2 cup of maraschino cherries.
Refrigerate over nite.

Banana Split Cake

1 Stick melted margarine

2 Cups Graham cracker crumbs

Mix together and put into a 13 x 9 inch pan.

Beat the following with an electric mixer no less than 15 minutes:

2 Eggs

2 Sticks margarine

2 Cups Powdered sugar

Spread over Graham crackers
