I have 25 years experience with Photoshop but I am a complete newb to the 3D features . I am trying to create two rings that merge (see attached). I can create the two 3D rings easy enough, but when I try to merge them, they are always either not lined up properly, off axis, or not merged in the correct spot. When I try to pan / rotate the view around before merging, it only does it for one object, making it look like one object is spining inside the other one. ANNOYING! Is there a way to pan around all or at least multiple 3D objects at the same time so you can visually see exactly where objects are before merging them?rings.jpg

P.S. Is there any good vid oourses on YouTube or something that teaches all the basics of 3D in Photoshop? All I can find are individual lessons on specific tasks instead of teaching all the tools and how to use them.

You merged your two 3d layer into a single 3d layer.  In that single 3d layer scene your two ring object object can be work on together or one at a time. You can scale, rotate and position then together or independently a long and around the x y and the z of things. In a Video time line you can even animate these operations
