How to "hide" photoshop whilst running an action or script

Explorer ,
Mar 11, 2018 Mar 11, 2018

Photoshop CC 2018 Ver 19.1.1 doesn't seem to "Hide" anymore so its constantly interrupting other applications whilst its running. Have googled this issue and it seems I am not the only one....does anyone know of a fix?

I just tried it with some script/action they work longer time and I was able to use 'win d', 'win' with some number  (other application) or 'alt tab'. It doesn't work so smooth, and even I think was triggered after 2nd, 3rd attempt with delay, but it was the same in CS6 EXTENDED. Could you give more information, maybe post your script or action others could test it.

kukurykus, I am just using image processor to bulk reduce photo files from 4256px to 1800px. The script runs but when I hit "hide" it just continues to pop up images across the screen and pretty much renders the computer un-usable whilst its doing this. On my old PS6 version you could use hide and photoshop would function in the background.

I don't use Image Processor as I'm scripter with ability to write programs for my exact needs, however I know its powerful tool many users use. I will check how it is for me in CS6 EXTENDED and last CC 2018 (19.1.1) version. Till then can you check (downgrade) how that's in 19.1 and if same check last version where it worked well. If you'll find it's new behaviour that can be reported on Photoshop Family Customer Community Adobe bugs site. But make sure of that I asked. Even then if this bug(?) was introduced with first CC it might be reported as well. What do mean by 'hide' - is there special button in Image Processor to go to Desktop? How about those methods I described. When used it still takes processed images to front?

Hide is where you can run photoshop in the background and it doesn't interfere with other programs you are using. So I am running a script that reduce unto a 1000 images to a smaller size. In PS6 you could run this script and use "hide" so it ran by itself in the background but now it has images popping up all over the screen as its reducing them. So you can use the computer for anything else!

Both macOS and Windows 10 have virtual desktops built in (Spaces and Task View). Run Photoshop in one virtual desktop and just switch to a different one to do other work.

This works but on a Mac the little spinning curser is spinning the whole time making it hard to do anything else on the computer while its processing the files!

So I confirm this behaviour on Windows 10 with Photoshop 19.1.1. On CS6 EXTENDED you could do what you want while Ps processed files via Image Processor. With CC2018 you can't. That you can do is what I asked. Downgrade Ps versions so long you see you could work during IP process / or start from first CC and go in other direction. When you know when bug was introduced go report it. EDIT: I found solution. Press WIN key with d key, then release d, and after one second release WIN.

As I'm not Mac user I can't help. WIN is Windows specific key. Go to Photoshop Family website and descirbe your problem. If they'll find there is really no way to do your stuff while Ps works in backgorund they should fix it with some next update.

Edit: thx to this topic Photoshop: Hiding sometimes makes it irretrievable | Photoshop Family Customer Community (where's opposite problem, so user cannot go back to Photoshop) I found on Mac you use command h (so like WIN d)
