Is it possible to save a generated background to use with other photos? If so how?

You can save the generated background as a file; I don't see any problem with that. Could you please clarify what your doubt is?

I thank every one for answering.
OK. I don't doubt that it can be done. Just don't know how to do it.
I am makiing a directory for our church with pictures of the individuals.
I removed the background and generated a new background that I really like. I would like to use it for other pictures in the directory, but I cant figure out how to save it for future use.
The problem is that when i try to save it it saves with a white outline of the photo, so I cant use it for other people. is it possible to save the background so that it fills the entire space and then I can add another person's photo to that background. I am far from proficient at using Photoshop so I hope I am making my request clear.. I have looked at various tutorials but they don't seem to explain what I want to do. Thanks so much for any help.

Than you for your response. I hope these screenshot help. The first one is the result of Automatically generating a background using Traditional portrait background with brushstrokes. The second one with the white cut-out of the portrait is what i get when attempting to save background. I want to save the entire background without the white cut-out. Thank you again.

I am afraid you need to remove the fringes (hair etc.) to be able to use the background for other images without having to check for such details each time.
So you could use the original selection/mask, expand it a bit and use Generative Fill to »fill in« the »missing parts« of the background and then save that completed background as a new file to place in the other images.

Have you been able to solve the issue?

You are so kind to keep helping. Unfortunately, I have not been able to make it work. After I make the selection and do the Generative Fill, it pops a new photo of a probable ai created person, instead of filing in the background like yours did? I think that PS has gotten so complex thru the years and I have gotten less complex. e 😞
I really want to know how to do it, I am not sure I will be able to. Is it possible to just send me a copy of the background file you made? I am not even sure if that is permissible. Thank you again for your help.

Did you expand the Selection a bit (to include all the edge effects of the original person) and use a prompt like »watercolor background«?

Yes, I did both of those things but it still filled the white space with a person.

Yes, if the tool you're using allows it, you can usually save the generated background as a separate image. Look for an option to export or download the background before adding other elements. If that’s not available, you might try removing the foreground manually (e.g., with a photo editor) and saving the background as a standalone file. What tool are you using?

Are these full layer backgrounds? If not then maybe merge with the original background, or select the generated content and background and make them a Smart Object. A good way to future proof them would be to drag to a Creative Cloud Libraries group. It makes then easy and convenient to find and use, and they live in your Adobe cloud storage, so can be retried anywhere in the world with Internet access. I sometimes think that CC Libraries are the great undiscovered secret.
