How to save a vector file with a transparent background?

Hi, looking for some help please 🙂

I've created a logo on photoshop, vectorised it and saved it as an eps ( apparently this is a vector file ) but it doesn't have a transparent background which I need it to. I've removed the background on PS but when I open the saved file, a white background appears behind it.

I can't save it as a PNG as then surely it wont be a vector file and I need it to remain a good quality when its resized etc. Can anyone help? |Thanks so much !

Well, you are creating a vector file in a raster program. EPS files are not transparent. EPS cannot contain transparency. You shouldn't create a logo in Photoshop to begin with. But try converting to a smart object.

My answer is not really complete. But if you want anyone to work with that EPS file as a vector, they will need Illustrator. Here is more:

How to Remove the Background from an EPS File in Illustrator:

1: Open the EPS File: Start by opening the EPS file in Adobe Illustrator.
2: Check the Construction: Verify if the white background is a separate object. If it is, you can simply delete it. If the background is integrated into the artwork, proceed to the next steps.
3: Select the Background: Use the Direct Selection Tool (White Arrow) to select the background elements you wish to remove.
4: Delete the Background: Once selected, press the Delete key to remove the background.
5: Save the File: Save the file as an AI (Adobe Illustrator) file or EPS file. When saving as an EPS file, ensure the Background Transparent box is checked to maintain transparency.
6: Export as PNG or SVG: Alternatively, you can export the file as a PNG or SVG to ensure the background remains transparent. When exporting as PNG, make sure the Background Color is set to Transparent in the PNG Options window.
