Using PS CC 19.0 on MacOS 10.13.2. Every time I open a file in PS, I hit the f key for full screen mode (I think that's what it's called?). I can't find in preferences where to set this by default, so when I open an image it's centered on the canvas.
That is what you can automate with script manager events. You just record a one step action to rum when a document is added to photoshop.

There is a difference between Full Screen, Fitted to screen and view actual pixels. You can create an open document and a new document event that will automatically do whatever you want when you open of create an Photoshop document. On CC 2018 I set them up to add garbage to the document metadata if it not there to get around an Adobe CC 2015.5 scripting bug. All you need to is record an action or write a script to do what you want done. Use Photoshop's Script Event Manger to run it when you open and create document in Photoshop.

View menu, choose Screen Mode, and then choose Full Screen Mode.
Another place to find the Screen Modes is in thet Toolbar along the left of the screen. The Screen Mode icon is the last icon at the very bottom. Click and hold on the icon to view a fly-out menu, and then choose a Screen Mode from the list.

I love this. Thank you for helping me discover script manager events. I wonder if there's an easy way for a non-Javascript person like me to set this up so it works when I open an image into Photoshop from Lightroom? I was easily able to set this up with the "event" being "open" in Photoshop but alas, apparently, opening from Lightroom is a whole different event. Thanks.

Actually, I'm having trouble with the action to change screen mode. I record the action (with an open file in "standard screen mode") to change to full screen mode with menu. But it doesn't stick--nothing shows up under the action like it normally does. I tried recording both methods Ahmed described--the one from the top menu, and also bottom of toolbar.
I also created an action to add my name to the "author" metadata field, to get around the scripting bug, and that's working, and I see how to add the actions to run upon

Actions does not write changing Screen Mode, but I used to "insert menu item" and pick the Screen Mode I like, and it's appeared in my single step action, so I can use it with Events Manager.
