I am new to photoshop and basically have no idea what I'm doing, but I am hoping that someone out there can explain to me (in step to step detail) how to thicken the lines of a scanned image. The image is a star shape in black outline and I need to widen the outline......

If it’s pure line-art you could try Filter – Other – Minimum.

Hey there, thanks again.... By now you're probably aware of my level of experience :-). I have changed to Illustrator, but have still not figured out how to save via Bridge. This may be the reason (or it may not), that I am unable to show you via the 'camera' symbol, what it is that I'm trying to do.  The message says 'the content type of this image is not allowed'..... May also be important to mention that I've also just recently switched to a Mac from having always used a PC :-). What do you suppose could be the problem with not being able to display the image?

The message says 'the content type of this image is not allowed'

The camera-symbol is for embedding images (jpgs for example), so just make a screenshot (command-alt-shift and click-drag) and post that.
