Question

How to transfer the same object from one image into a modification of the same image

I made a sepia coloured image of a RAW photograph.  Now I want to copy an object from the original RAW image and replace the same object in the sepia image, so that the colored object is the only part of the image with color. I tried to use a copy and paste selection in Photoshop but the result is less than ideal, as seen in the attached images. I am using Mac version 10.15.7 and the new updated version of Lightroom and Photoshop.

What are the steps in Photoshop to achieve a more perfect result?

Many thanks,

Jeff

You can drag and drop layers between documents you should be able to duplicate you layers: Adjustment, shapes text etc,  layer styles and adjustment should be identical in  both documents. Even smart object layers come along with their smart filters filter mask and layer masks.  You can drag all layers.  What will not drag is Canvas size and resolution, They are Documents Attributes. the number of Pixels layer have will not change they will be printed the resolution the document there are in has for its print pixel size it print resolution.

Sounds like a good option. I will try what you have suggested.
Many thanks,

I think you need to deepen the shadows on the second image to match the sirst image. Also the 2nd image looks like it has some type of cloud effect over it.I makes the colored car look unatural in comparison.

Thanks for your very prompt feedback. However, I am looking for another way
to do this, possibly involving layers, as the copy and paste approach does
not seem that ideal. Do you have any other suggestions. for this layer
approach? Thanks
