How to turn off scrubby zoom Photoshop 25.0

Community Beginner ,

I understand that for people not familiar with a marquee zoom workflow, scrubby zoom is more intuitive. But for people who are used to it, it's a superior workflow, allowing you to zoom in on exactly the area you want. Yet each new version changes where the switch to turn it off (and doesn't remember your preference to banish scrubby zoom to a long holiday with Mephistopheles).

Which leaves me begging: how to I once again ban it so I can use this critical tool in the manner that best suits my needs? I spent 15 frustrating minutes hunting through the preferences to find this and couldn't.

Omigosh, I have been trying to figure this out for several years! Thank you! I've used PS since the '90s and this 'scrubby' zoom just appeared...the marquee zoom make much more sense to me. I never knew it was called 'scrubby zoom' until now, so never had the right search term. It's always so simple yet confounding at the same time!

Following up on this, is there any way to turn off the space+command (on a Mac) zoom function? I am constantly accidentally zooming while navigating my document. Was hoping unchecking the scrubby zoom box in the options bar would do it but alas it was not to be.

until the next update which turns on scrubby again, as I have just experienced and had solved after 1hr on phone to one of those tech support peeps who are tricky to understand the language and have zero experience of pshop !

I wish settings of users WERE NOT ALTERED with updates, THAT IS BANG OUT OF ORDER, AND COSTLY, 1 hrs lost work time solving one issue that turned out to be something called scrubby that had been turned ON. BEING USED TO DRAG A BOX WITH MAG GLASS, AND NEVER EVER USING SCRUBBY I WAS NOT KNOWING THE CAUSE OF LOSS OF ZOOM BOX AND SHE ALSO DIDNT KNOW !

The only issue I have is that the image does not center when going back to the full image.
