Hey there, problem.  All PS and camera raw are the latest updates from the cloud.  The change is I have a new Macbook Pro and this isn't working anymore.

I can't "edit contents" when working with a copy of a smart layer in PS.  I get the warning "Could not edit original smart object because of a disk error."

Please help and thanks!

That is suggesting the file is corrupt or the drive is not good. The latter can happen on a new system. If you have a backup of the file, you could copy it to a flash drive and see if that works.

That may tell you which it is, file or drive.

So I transferred a copy of everything to the actual laptop from the drive I was using.  Still the same error warning.  Anything else anyone?

Well that rules out the drive. Did you use any plug ins, files from other apps, etc? Can you place the file in a new document or open in another program. It sadly sounds like the file is corrupted. If to is too complex to redo, you might be able to send the file to Adobe to figure it out. No guarantees that they will accept the file or can fix it, but would be worth asking them.

I really wish I could be more help.
