Beginner level question

I've cropped and now have a fine mesh layer over my image with a large C shapped squirl.

Click on the image the swirll goes away but the fine mesh grid wont disappear.

What's going on here?

View>Show> and uncheck "Pixel Grid"

Are you still in the crop tool - is it the crop overlay grid? Could be the pixel grid if you are zoomed way into your image. Can't really answer your question without a screenshot to see what you are talking about. You can turn the pixel grid off under the view menu.

Regarding your question:
How big (in pixels) is your image? What zoom level are you using?

Can you please post a screenshot? Maybe you only see the pixel grid.
