I can't use my layer panel, hide, edit, lock, etc

I was hoping it would be something real obvious but i have been trying to figure this out for hours now. I can't click any of my layers in my layer panel, I can't click on the effects in a layer, I can't move layers, lock, edit, remove. 

I can only click on stuff in the work area. 

I'm at my wits end, and google doesn't seem to have anything.

It's hard to tell when all we can see is your Layers panel and not your entire workspace. 

 

Try these:

  • Press Escape
  • Quit PS and relaunch
  • Shut down your computer and reboot
  • Try it in another document

 

If none of this helps, show a screenshot of the entire workspace.
