i had hopes ... heic/heif

i had hopes that in 2020 adobe will finally support heif/heic files on windows.

but that is not the case.. right?

the latest windows version of PS still has no heif/heic support?

Photoshop added HEIC support on Windows this morning (version 22.1), relying on the operating system's codecs for this format:

"View and work with HEIF/.heic files in Photoshop on Windows by downloading and installing HEIF and HEVC codecs from the Microsoft Store."

There is one account for all things Microsoft. So your Windows 10 login works in the Microsoft Store as well.

The first codec is free and the second costs 99¢.

2023 and still no native support for HEIC on Windows. You have to fumble around and and still pay for their issues between Microsoft.
