I have to click TWICE to select a tool! (Photoshop 2020/MacOS)

In previous versions of Photoshop I could select any tool with a single click.

But since I updated to PS 2020, switching tools requires TWO clicks - the first click makes the flyout menu appear, and the flyout will NOT disappear until you click on a tool in the flyout:

This happens with both left-clicks and right-clicks, btw.

Is there any way to restore the behavior where only a single click is necessary to select a tool?

Photoshop 21.0.0, MacOS High Sierra

That's the way it used to work on my Mac, too. The behavior only changed with Photoshop 2020 (v 21.0.0).

It still works that way on windows however, the delay time has been shortened.  A slow lazy left click will pop out the flyout.

The look like it selected the the rectangle selection tool right way without sound we can not hear any clicks. It also look like you used a right click or left click and hold not just a left click.  However, I use windows  that is the way things work on windows.

I single left click select on a tool select the tool and the flout does not omeo on Windows.

A single right click will select the tool and  the flyout will open if the tool bar has a flyout for a set of related tools.

Thanks for your response, JJMack!

Unfortunately, the flyout menu gets “stuck” whether I right-click or left-click.

I used to have to right-click to get the flyout menu, but now it appears with EVERY click, both left and right.
