I like the "new" Gradient Tool, but...

Hey everyone!

In addition to having the classic variant, I really like the new Gradient Tool. I like that I can keep on adjusting a gradient and go back to it when needed - it just fits my style of working perfectly!

I've notice that there's some very weird behavior that's effecting how the tool behaves while performing very basic functions on an image:

  1. Moving a group/selection of layers/linked parent doesn't move the gradient layer. It just stays put, unless I manually go and move it with the gradient tool. This is causing me quite a lot of headaches, as I haven't found a way to have it tag along with the other layers. Linking to a parent layer, being part of a group, selecting multiple layers or a clipping mask doesn't work in this case.
  2. If I adjust the canvas' size, for example anchoring to mid-left causes the gradients to gain an unwanted offset. Looks like they're using a centering anchor instead of the one I'm choosing.
  3. Moving a gradient with the Gradient Tool doesn't support Shift-moving, where it anchors to the wanted axis.

There's propably something else also, that I'm missing, but have you guys found any sollutions to the above issues I'm having? Thanks!

For all of the functions you mention, try converting those layers into a Smart Object first by selecting them in the Layers panel and either right-clicking and selecting Convert to Smart Object or by going to Layer > Smart Objects > Convert to Smart Object.
