I need a concrete solution to why my canvas is freezing.

So there's a dozen post dating back to 2020 about the CANVAS in PHOTOSHOP freezing, okay? And none of those posts have any concrete solutions to this issue. Below I'm going to post search results from the community about this issue, all have adobe staff members replaying to link crappy troubleshooting links that does not help me fix this issue I am having.

Here are my specs, obviously I have a well enough computer to run photoshop, like many others do who also face this issue, ok? I'm posting my specs here to save you the time of having to ask me to post my PC SPECS, which will not even help you help me to begin with, so here they are:

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU
Intel Processor i7 127000k
RAM
32.0GB
Motherboard
Micro-Star International Co. Ltd. PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4(MS-7D25) (U3E1)
Graphics
DELL G2722HS (1920x1080@60Hz)
Artisr15.6Pro (1920x1080@60Hz)
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (MSI) 29 °C
Storage
931GB Western Digital WD Blue SN570 1TB (Unknown (SSD))

I've read some posts on reddit about CANVAS FREEZING happening due to FREESYNC monitors on dual monitor sets up, which is what I have and disabled, on MY 164ghz monitor, capped at 60hz to ensure that my CANVAS FREEZING isn't a refresh rate issue. doing this has not solved my issues.

TURNING OFF GRAPHICS PROCESSOR in PHOTOSHOP is NOT A GOOD SOLUTION as it limits my WORK FLOW IN PHOTOSHOP.

CAN I PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GET SOME REAL HELP THAT DOESN'T INVOLVE ME TRYING TO TROUBLE SHOOT.

And before you ask, NO I AM NOT USING A PIRATED COPY OF PHOTOSHOP, I'M PAYING FOR CREATIVE CLOUD.

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS FREEZING CANVAS ISSUE???? PLEASE???? This has been an ongoing issue for months.

OKAY, I found the issue in my case, so I had an adobe assistant online try to help me, he literally shared screen my computer and had me recreate the problem and he came to the conclusion that it's just my brand of drawing tablet that I use.

So before I gave up, I did one last search to my problem along with my tablet brand, and I found the fix. The problem is FLICK PANNING. DISABLE IT. IN PREFERENCES > TOOLS. DISABLE IT. It fixed my issue.

Because basically when Id move my canvas around with my pen and tablet, it would freeze, with flick panning enabled. SO TURN THAT OFF. I HOPE I HELPED ANYONE HERE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES TO MINE.

Issue: Canvas freezes either due to moving canvas around while zoomed in, or rotating canvas, either or, I don't honestly know.

I tried getting help in the community, and basically I'm told I have a bad gpu driver, but I'm telling you this issue has been persistant for MONTHS with constant driver reinstalls and roll backs

Photoshop version: 24.1

OS: WINDOWS 10

Expected result: Canvas should not freeze

Actual result: Canvas freezes

It does, but why should limited my usage for photoshop by turning off graphics processor be a viable solution?

Because, again, your GPU driver is buggy. If you disable GPU, no crash right?

You asked:

I've provided the answer and the options for you; the rest is up to you.

And yes, there are many users whose GPUs do not crash Photoshop (mine included).

If it really is a gpu driver issue, and i've been experiencing this for months on multiple computers, and updating drivers, or reinstalling GPU drivers doesn't fix the issue, then yeah, i'd say its just poor optimization on adobe's end. Basically I'm screwed. Because this issue, with apparently not being adobe's fault, is now my GPU manufacturer's problem. So I guess I should email NVIDIA and demand them to fix my problem in photoshop, since their drivers are bugged for  adobe's applications right?

You see the problem here? I'm telling you this has been going on for a long time, between a gtx 970 gpu, gtx 1070gpu, and now with my rtx 3070ti gpu, there just seems to be no end to this problem. I don't know man, out of this entire conversation, I feel like I'm just being told I'm screwed.

I hope that people with this same issue honestly come through this thread, to whoever reads this, just MAKE SURE you've got the right GPU before subscribing to photoshop, because the chances are your GPU's drivers might be bugged for photoshop for eternity, unless of course you get the right GPU that's compatible with photoshop and wont give you any problems, which one should you buy? beats me, but good luck. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I dont know, it's very silly that I have to look through a version of photoshop that'll work, this pc is brand new. it makes no sense for this to happen to begin with, it just honestly sounds like the developers aren't really doing enough to optimize photoshop. I love using photoshop, when it comes to using its tools for me nothing else beats it, and it sucks that anyone has to honestly go through this.

But buggy.

Your options are to find a driver that doesn't do this, upgrade the GPU, turn off GPU or roll back to an old version of PS that doesn't use the GPU and thus crash.

If you wish to roll back to an older version, use the Creative Cloud application, click on the three dots (...) and select “Other Versions”.

If turning OFF the GPU works, it's a GPU bug, and you need to contact the manufacturer or find out if there's an updated driver for it. This is why disabling GPU is an option as more and more functionality moves to the GPU in newer versions of many Adobe products.

It does, but why should limited my usage for photoshop by turning off graphics processor be a viable solution? I need it especially for rotating the canvas, which is disabled when turning off graphics processor.

So it was or wasn't the GPU?

I also forgot to mention "Disable Native Canvas" in preferences doesn't fix anything.
