I need help changing a black and white image to a colored image

I have a png image that I need to change to red from black how do I do that, or can't I?  I have Windows 11.

Here's one way out of numerous other ways:

 

Go to Layer>Layer Style>Color Overlay, click on the color chip and pick your red.
