I need to batch resize 20 images. I need pngs [PS2017]

I have searched and almost found the answer. File - script - Image processor - Select folder - resize to fit, BUT I can't see the option to save as png (as you can see from my screenshot. (Using photoshop CC 2017)

    Put your images into a common folder.

    Create a new custom Action.

    Create actions in Adobe Photoshop

    Go to File > Open an image.

    1. Hit the Action record/play button.
    2. Crop to required size.
    3. File > Export > Export As > PNG.
    4. Adjust quality slider to reduce file size.
    5. Hit OK.
    6. Close image.

    Hit Stop button on Actions panel.

    You can now batch process images with your custom action by going to File > Automate > Batch.  Select your image folder and the Action name.

    Would it REALLY be so hard for Adobe to add PNG to the image processor dialog? I tried using Bridge and trying to convert a bunch of AI and EPS filed gives me a list of files at the end that says "Unsupported Format" and it will not convert them, even though they are just AI and EPS files. Creating an action doesn't always give good results either. Instead of adding things like 3D features that the vast majority of graphic designers and artists don't need, they could take 2 weeks out of their coding time to just add this simple feature. I guess that's why software like Graphic Converter will always be valuable. Because it handles Adobe's files better than Adobe's own software.

    @timz67519437 , why don’t you export the pngs from Illustrator itself?

      Because the action was making me using the save dialog box every single time and wasn't doing it automatically.


      What about a Script instead of an Action?

      Have you tried Bridge > Export panel which offers resize and PNG format?

          There's an beta web application from Adobe called Project Aspen that allows you to batch convert from PSD to JPEG, PNG, and TIFF

          When recording [Actions], just use [Save As] instead, and choose PNG. With that you can even use [Override Action "Save As" Commands] in [Batch] to add more to the name of your files for example "_thumb".

          But you can't slect .png from the "Save As" dropdown.... you have to export. Am I crazy?

          I can SaveAs PNG.  See screenshot.

          Unfortunately, Photoshop CC doesn't allow you to record the "Export As" function into an Action. So this answer is now useless. Sad.

              I'm making an action verbatim as described here and it's still not saving and resizing as a png...

                  Never mind I figured it out. Start with the image open then hit record.

                    You can write an action to convert to png. 20 images isn't very many - it will be faster for you do do it manually than sort out an automatic way to do it - unless this is a task you will be repeating often. I would use image processor to open and resize them all, then you can manually save as png.
