I want the Clone tool

I have used Photoshop since the late 1990s, so I am not a new kid.

This morning I installed the update to Photoshop25 app on my Windows 11 OS / Wacom PremierPro Tablet.

After installation, the toolbar only showed a few tools with a lot of empty spaces between them.

So, I went to Edit: Toolbar and began to load the tools I normally use.  There was NO Clone Tool offered, just a Clone Stamp Tool and a Pattern Stamp Tool.

I tried using the Clone Stamp Tool and although it did clone from one area of the image to another, every time I lifted my stylus to move along and continue the cloning process beyond what was currently being displayed on the screen, the Tool started over from the initial point of cloning, rather than continuing to clone along on the image.  SO, this was obviously NOT simply a Tool Name Change, but a different (and unwanted) Tool, entirely. 

Does the old Clone Tool still exist?  How do I load it?  Thank you.

Aha!  I shall look into widening out that Options bar!  Learning so much today!  Although I've used Photoshop for MANY MANY years, I'm self-taught and know far more about using some of the other graphics software in my stable.  The wonderful Aldus Photostyler was my favorite tool in the early days of "personal computers" and I was always "too busy creating" to actually consult tutorials.  Thank you again, for your kind replies to my inquiry.

No problem, it's why we are here 🙂 

You will need to close and restart Photoshop after you uncheck the 'narrow options bar' setting in Preferences > Workspace, in order to see the change.

Clone Stamp has always been called Clone Stamp since it was introduced in 2007.  Nothing new there.

The Clone Stamp tool copies pixels from one part of an image to another.

    Thank you, Nancy!  Yes, I am aware of what its function is.  I have been working with computers since 1963 when I worked in the Programming Department of TIME Magazine.  The tool is functioning properly now that I have simply RESET all Tools.  I use it constantly for inserting Dogs into scenic backgrounds for my clients and it would be a serious hardship if I were to lose its wonderful capability!

      The tool has not changed, it has always been the clone stamp tool. With that tool selected go to the options bar and check 'Aligned'

        Thank you, Dave.  The option "Aligned" is not shown on my copy of Photoshop - screenshot below -  (just today upgrade to Photoshop25 was installed, removing all prior versions).  However, in frustration, I clicked to RESET all Tools, and in testing the results have now the old Cloner back - functioning as before the Upgrade and working as I require for my purposes. 

        I appreciate everyone's help.

        Your screenshot shows that you have the narrow options bar enabled in Preferences > Workspace.

        The aligned check box is replaced, on the narrow bar, with the icon symbol between '0 degrees' and 'current layer'.
