I have two programs  6X and 2023

By @capriella

Tell us about the image: is it vector or raster? What is the file format?

What is "6X"?

Which Adobe application are you using that you are calling "2023"? Illustrator? Photoshop? Photoshop Elements? Something else?

Please post screenshots so we can better assist.

If you are talking about placing images into USA State outlines, then one approach would be:

  1. Find a high resolution image showing the States in plain colors to make them easy to select.
  2. Select each State in turn and copy it to a new layer (Ctrl J)
  3. Find relevant images to represent each State and place them above the copied outline of the relevant State
  4. Clip the image to the State outline layer.

It would be a fun project, but would take a bit of time.

Start with Step 1 in Trevor's directions, then post a screenshot of your entire Photoshop workspace with the image open so we can better assist.

A good way to do this is using what we call Clipping Masks.

We start with a map image that has the states in a solid colour, because that makes it easy to select each state with the Magic Wand tool.

With a state selected, copy it to a new layer (Ctrl J)

Now find a picture of the athlete taken at that state, and place it immediately above the copy of the state layer.

Hover the cursor on the intersection of the State and Athlete layers. When you see an icon like below, click and you'll have created a 'clipping mask'

The athlete layer will now only show where it overlaps the State layer's outline.

The athlete layer will probably be too big, so use Free Transform (Ctrl T) to resize and move into position.

Is that making sense?

You should be able to select the layer and click on Remove Background and Photoshop will create a layer mask that hides the background.  Your screen shot was tiny, so the quality is not great below.

image.png

If you find your map with all of the states. Select the state you want (the magic wand tool works fine with a solid color) and copy it to a new layer (Ctrl J or Cmd J)

Move your cutout layer over the state layer, right click and choose Create Clipping Mask

You might need to resize the clipped layer using Free Transform.

image.png

If you photo of the people is open in a different document window, then drag the layer to the other document's tab as below, which will copy it to that document.

Please ask as many questions as you need if still stuck.  We enjoy helping folk with this stuff. 🙂

I would use the place image feature since it is possible to transforme the envelop or even draw it.

Capture d’écran 2024-05-14 à 10.14.26.png

It would be a llittle time to draw all the states but doable. and reusable…

You can draw with the pen tool as a shape (not as path) and then convert to images
