I want to change a tiff image to an RGB.  How can I do thits?

Correct answer Claire H.

Hi @wekiwis, welcome to the Photoshop forums! To save a TIFF image as an RGB image in Photoshop, follow these steps:

1. Open the TIFF Image: Start by opening your TIFF image in Photoshop.

2. Convert to RGB Color Mode: Go to the menu bar and select Image > Mode. Choose RGB Color from the dropdown menu. This will convert your image to RGB color mode.

3. Save the Image: Once your image is in RGB color mode, go to File > Save As. In the Save As dialog box, choose TIFF as the format. Ensure that the Color option is set to RGB in the TIFF options.

4. Export for Web (Optional): If you need to save the image for web use, you can go to File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy). Choose JPEG or PNG format, which supports RGB color mode.

These steps should help you save your TIFF image as an RGB image in Photoshop. I hope this helps! ^CH

@wekiwis

There isn't too much to add to the great reply from @Claire H. – except that the colour mode of the file is only half the story... Using Image > Mode > RGB will convert from another mode such as CMYK/Lab/Grayscale to RGB using the RGB Working Space ICC Profile and conversion options set in your Colour Settings, which may or may not be ideal for the use case at hand.

Another option providing more flexibility is to use Edit > Convert to Profile, where you can set the desired RGB ICC Profile for the intended use case: sRGB, Adobe RGB (1988), Pro Photo etc. P.S. It's usually a good idea to embedd or save the ICC profile into the image when saving, so that the RGB values in the file are defined and not open to interpretation.

I'm wondering if @wekiwis found there was no option to save a layered image as a JPG.

If that is what is happening here, go to Preferences > File Handling and check Enable legacy "Save As"

I am VERY green when it comes to Photoshop!! I am not aware of layers. But for some reason, after several attempts the image was saved to my desktop, still in TIFF format, but I was able to open it from there & attach it to an email so all is okey for now Thank you VERY much!!
