Hi, can anyone inform me why the icon shown below has started showing up in my image when I edit it? It comes and goes on a whim. It does not appear to do anything useful, at least that I know of. Using Version 22.5.2 on Windows 10. I backed up from version 23 because of a known crash issue with Microsoft surface touch/pinch.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Does turning on »Deactivate Native Canvas« (Photoshop > Preferences > Technology Previews) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

I have turned on "Deactivate Native Canvas" and the little bit that I used PS since then have not had the issue. I will need to use it a while to see if that fixes the problem, though, as it was not a consistent issue. It did not really harm my work much, other than being annoying.

I did a Google search trying to find out what "deactivate native canvas" actually does but the results were useless. Can you provide a link that explains exactly what this option does. I do not know what "native canvas" is. I am a long-time user of Photoshop (more than 10 years) and have never seen anything about "native canvas" before and this is the first time I even noticed that option.

Thanks!

More functions in Photoshop are being moved to the Graphics Processor. However some, usually older, GPUs can struggle delivering that new functionality and Deactivate Native Canvas reverts to the older functions.
