Hi!

I found this image and I'd like to be able to duplicate the effect/filter that's applied.  However, I don't know how to achieve the look.  Can anyone weigh in on how I can achieve the washed out look in the image  below?

Thanks!parallax-1024x533.jpg

I would recommend trying a Gradient Map Adjustment Layer and if necessary add Curves Layer below that to edit the contrast.

You can do that with two adjustment layers - black and white and a curve

After black and white adjustment layer

Add a curve as shown

Demonstrates a  reduced in tonal scale by going to Curves and dragging the extreme shadow point vertically toward lightness.

If you are beginning with a color image, covert to grayscale, increase the contrast and then go to Curves and drag the extreme shadow point to vertically toward lightness.
