Question

Image getting pixelated and losing option to use GPU related tools suddenly

I'm working on my tasks in Photoshop when suddenly my canvas flickers for a fraction of a second, and the quality gets pixelated. Not only that, but all the OpenGL or GPU tools, such as "Scrubby Zoom" or "Rotate View Tool," become greyed out. If I close and reopen every Photoshop project, the quality goes back to normal. However, after a while, the same problem occurs again.

I checked to see if it was my GPU, but this problem started when I downloaded the most recent version of Photoshop (v25.4) today. Yesterday, I had no such problem, and I haven't made the update yet. Yes, I verified that the options for OpenCL or OpenGL are enabled, and they are. It's affecting the canvas, but the exported project is in the correct quality (I usually work on my projects at 300 ppi with a resolution of 3000x3000).

Can someone help me with this?

Also, I'm attaching two images of a project – one without the pixelated screen and the other with the pixelated screen after a few minutes.

My system and specifications are:

OS: Windows 10 Pro

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x

GPU: RTX 2070
Storage: Samsung NVMe M.2 SSD 970 EVO Plus 2tb

RAM: HyperX 32gb

Hey @Guilherme30582412o7vv. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

Before troubleshooting, update Photoshop to the latest version (v25.5) via the Creative Cloud desktop app & check if the issue exists. If it does, go to Window > Info panel > Info Panel Option from the top right > check the box for GPU mode & monitor the GPU state & try to find a pattern of steps that trigger the reported behavior. Check here for more info: https://adobe.ly/4bPxvy3

I'll move this to discussions for now.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
