image resize with a variable length batch process

Is there a way to write a batch that will find the longest edge ethier vertical or horizontal and make it constraid with the longest edge being 2500 px at 300dpi?

Hi,

First set to 2500 px with "Automate / Fit Image ...".

Next, set “Image Size ...” to 300 dpi, and turn off Resample.

Batch process the above as an action.

I also wrote a Photoshop Plug-in that will set a document Resolution  so it longest side will print so many inches in length. so you can record an action step to set a Document's longest side print length to be so many inches.  The Plug-in script record the length into the action step.  The Plug-in is included in my crafting Action package. You can use Fit image first if to want to resample an image so it longest side will be so many pixels.  However, it does not matter how many pixels the longest side has.  If you set the resolution correctly it will print the length you want the image to print.  I do not like resampling an image for it will loose some image quality. You either discard details you have or generate details you do not have if you resample an image. Fit image will resample your image.
