Question

Images are taking way too long, even for small files

Some of my images take around 3-5 minutes to save. These files are not that big, around 2.76 gb. Others that are larger don't take any time at all. I've looked through Preferences but still can't figure why. Any help?

The biggest variable is compression. That can take a long time to process with a large file (and 2.8G is still quite large).

Layers take especially long time to compress.

Well, I failed to point out that I just got a new computer, Dell XPS 8960 with a i9 processor and 3 TB of memory. On my old computer right before I bought this new one I processed an image which was 3.36 gb and had more layers, which I had to save that as a .psb file. The other day I started noticing how long image started taking to save, so I processed the same image as the one I described above, starting from scratch, on my new computer to see if there was any difference. This new one was much smaller .tiff (not requiring to use psb) and less layers. The old larger psb document takes less much less time to save than the new smaller file. This is a mystery to me.

But do you have compression on in preferences (PSB) or save options (TIFF)?
