In Photoshop 2025, deleting a layer mask area delete the underlying object or layer

Hi,
When deleting a portion of a layer mask, you are essentially hiding or revealing areas of the underlying layer, not deleting the object or layer itself; it's a non-destructive process. But unfortunately with Photoshop 2025, it's deleting the underlying layer too. Please fix this issue as soon as possible.
Thanks

Hey, @ArjunPal. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I've tried it, and the results met the expected behavior.

Try pressing the SHIFT key and clicking on the mask icon to temporarily disable it. Then, verify if the selected pixels are deleted from the layer or the mask.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!
