Insert into Smart Object

Hey Everybody -

Are we all still in Lockdown sort of???

I have a question- Im using Photoshop CC 2021 with a Mac with Catalina.

I have a Smart PSD file of graphics in a smart object to use as grunge for T-shirt Designs- I love them but...

1)  In the purchased "grunge pack" Instructions say "Double Click to edit artwork (red Tab in layers)

2)  And after double click the file changes to this with an approriate clear background with original clean non-grunged "art" and to "Replace with your artwork by inserting into the smart object. This is where Im lacking the brain cells .  How do I insert into the smart object.

3)  It then states in the seperate instructions to then save and then when reopening the file with all the grunge choice as in #1, but is replaced with the artwork I inserted into the smart object.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can leran to insert into the smart object and replacing what was in their originally?

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks-

Garry

Hi

When you double click on the smart object it will open in a new window, in the new window right click on the layer of the smart object and select Replace Contents

Note: the replacement files must be the same aspect ratio and size as the object in the template  when you use replace content for the design to fit the t-shirt. If it is not you can open the object and if the object is a Photoshop object not a Raw file or  vector ai file the object will open in Photoshop and you can fit the replacement into the existing object. Do not change the sized of the object you want it the fit in the t-shirt like the original object.   You can use my Batch Mockup script to replace designs in a t-shirt it uses Replace Content by default but has options you can set to have it edit in replacements instead.
