iPad PS: brush stroke only appears when I lift my stylus

When I use my stylus, the brush stroke only appears when I lift the stylus (unexpected! arg!). When I draw with my finger, the brush stroke appears while I'm drawing (expected behavior). The "Settings | Input | Stylus only painting" setting On vs. Off doesn't make any difference. VERSIONS: iPad 15.2; iPad Photoshop 3.2; Stylus: RoHS Pencil K11.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I had the same issue and spoke with photoshops ai service. I resolved the issue. Here's the steps.

To resolve the issue of brush strokes not appearing until you lift your Apple Pencil, adjust the pressure sensitivity settings in Photoshop on your iPad. Follow these steps:

  1. Open Photoshop on your iPad.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner to access App Settings.
  3. Select Input and then choose Apple Pencil.
  4. Adjust the Pressure sensitivity slider to your preference for better brush stroke visibility.
  5. Test the brush tool again to see if the issue is resolved.

For more details, refer to the Apple Pencil

Which Apple Pencil are you using?  I was using the USB-C Apple Pencil, which apparently is the only Apple Pencil not supported by the Photoshop for iPad app and was having the same issue.  I switched to a 2nd Gen Apple Pencil and everything works like a dream.

Apple Pencil 2, iPad Pro 5th gen 12.9, same issue. The brush stroke only appears after I lift the pencil while using Photoshop. Pencil 2 works perfectly in all other apps including Adobe Lightroom. Can't find a fix anywhere. Please help Adobe.

After some research i've realised i'd bought a very convincing fake Pencil 2.

macrumours has an excellent post on how to identify the good fake. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/psa-counterfeit-apple-pencil-2nd-generation.2355749/

There's still no reason for it to not draw a basic line/brushstroke while drawing when it is already tracking and shows the line brushstroke once the penicl is lifted.
ADOBE NEEDS to get their act together.

This needs to be resolved. Same problem still in 2023. Brand new iPad and genuine pen. Very frustrated

Photoshop for iPad supports Apple Pencil (1st and 2nd generation) https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements-ios.html

Unfortunately, 3rd party stylus aren't supported.
