Creative Suite license numbers were platform-specific. Your Windows serial number will not be accepted on a Mac.

The new subscription-based licenses are cross-platform.

But a more general point might be worth mentioning:

When deciding to work with obsolete software one should take care to make sure one can roll back any and all future software and hardware updates in case they »break« the setup.

Trying to switch obsolete software from one platform to another and to an OS version that did not exist when support for that obsolete version of the program stopped seems more than a little optimistic.

Yes, that's an important point that always needs to be emphasized.

It always surprises me that the resistance to subscription is so intense with some people, that they will rather run software that is six years old, and as many major versions behind, on a brand new computer. Do they really expect it to work properly? If it does, it won't for long.

When you pay£600 for a tool for home use I am surprised that you are happy to throw it away so readily. What do you do with your white goods orotund your house or your kitchen or bathroom replace them every 5 years.
