Is it possible to modify a GIF?

Hello,
I would like to know if it's possible to replace the face of a character on a GIF (while retaining the animation) by a animated face too (maybe my question is not very clear, I'm sorry, i'm french and i don't speak very well english) .

    The nature of a GIF is that is a like one of those flip books that you may have used as a child. You flip through it and it looks like it's moving. With an animated gif, you create key frames for movement, opacity, etc., and you let Photoshop create the between or tween frames. So in your case you would either adjust each frame or just make a new animation.

    For example, I just did a search for ".gif images animated" and downloaded this penguin and opened it in Photoshop. Here it is in the Timeline panel:
