Question

Is there a way to erase normally on a transparency locked layer?

Been trying out clip studio recently and that program allows you to use the eraser tool normally on a transparent pixel locked layer while PS adds the background color to the image rather than erase. So just wondering if there was a way to do the same in PS, thanks.

Hello, as an alternative you can paint in black on a layer mask...

I don't understand the logic of allowing destructive transparency editing on a transparency-locked layer...

I usually use transparency locking for painting within a certain area instead of having to lasso areas so having to keep turning it on and off to clean edges gets a bit annoying

So the idea, is that you only want painting tools to affect non-transparent areas, while being able to change which areas are transparent or not...

Could blending modes be a alternative solution to the problem you are trying to solve? (Color mode)
