Is there a way to extract a set of icons at a specific size including transparency?

Hello there!,

Here is the way I'm using Extract to deliver informations to developers:

Screenshot-touch-areas-touch-areas.png

  • The red shapes indicate the size and position of thetouch targets (here 48*48 points)
  • The blue shapes indicate the size and position of the icons (here 26*26 points).

(note that layers are filtered by names on this screenshot, that's why we don't see the layers corresponding to the icon shape in the layer panel)

As you've guessed, it will be easer for developer to get all the icons at the same dimensions. Even if the size of the icon by itself is smaller than 26*26 points, we don't care having surrounding transparent pixels around it, as long as the calculation work for code is much easier.

In my Photoshop + Adobe Extract process, I didn't find a way to define how to extract icons within a specific dimension (blue shape here).

A trick would be to set the blue shape with 1% opacity and export it + the icon together, but I'd rather avoid these kinds of workarounds.

I would be very thankful for any idea/feed-back from the staff members or other Extract users on this point!

I'm pretty sure you can do this if you add a mask on your icons. Just make the mask on the icon the size of the red shape. When the icons are pulled out of your PSD it will save it with the transparent padding. I've done this with the File > Generate > Image Assets. I think this is what you are asking. I hope this helps. I have not tried it with Creative Cloud Extract yet, but now I'm curious if it works there too.

Enjoy and GL!

Hi josephr19774008

Thanks for answering on this question!      . That makes sense indeed. I will try next time I need to work on Photoshop and Extract.
